This includes a special effort to bring young people, people from black and minority ethnic backgrounds, and women into the industry – it’s not just a job for middle-aged white men anymore (although they’re of course still welcome, because it’s all hands on deck to keep the country running).

Learning isn’t hard, and by far the majority of people who apply for a professional driving licence will get one. It doesn’t even need to take long. You can take intensive courses to pass in a matter of days, or weeks if you need to spread it out a bit.
There’s so much variety to be had, too. Love people? Be a bus or coach driver meeting loads of them every day. Love solitude? Drive an HGV around the country delivering to supermarkets. Want to travel abroad? Be a long-distance driver taking ferries and trains around Europe and beyond.
