Fixing older smart watches
The solution to your blank screen problem could be something as simple as a drained battery. You would regret paying someone to fix it if that was the case. Check out this guide for an entire list of troubleshooting steps you should perform on your watch before consulting the experts.
It Won’t Charge
Nothing is more frustrating than waking up in the morning to a watch that didn’t charge overnight. If your device still has a little bit of juice left, try to restart it. After it turns back on, place it on the charger.
If that didn’t work, check to make sure that there is still power flowing to the wireless charger. The LED indicator light will be turned on if it is. If the light is not on, plug it into a different power outlet.
It Won’t Turn On
So, your charger seems to be working but your watch won’t turn on. If you allowed the battery to drain all the way, sometimes you have to leave it on the charger for a few minutes before it will even think about responding.
If it won’t turn on again after being on the charger for a few hours, plug it into another power source. You might be able to get some luck if you connect it to your computer. If none of that works, your only choice will be to start Googling “smart watch repair near me”.
It’s No Longer Receiving Notifications
The entire reason why many people opt to get a smart watch is that it works with their phone. The problem is that sometimes, this feature decides it doesn’t want to work anymore. You’ll stop getting phone notifications on your device.
If this has happened to you, your first step is to make sure your notifications are even turned on. You can do this by going to the “Huawei Wearables” section on your phone. From that menu, go to the touch settings tab followed by touch notifications.
Turn on the notifications that you want to have on and restart your watch. That should have worked but if it didn’t, go back to the “Huawei Wearables” menu to see if “Good Night Mode” is on. If it is on, turn it off.
If none of these steps got your phone notifications working again, you’ll have to factory reset your watch.
Apple Watch Troubleshooting
All technology has the capability of being a bit stubborn. Apple watches are no exception. It has many of the issues that Samsung watches have.
The only difference is how you repair the problems.
Frozen Apps
You’re messing around in an app when all of a sudden, it freezes up on you. No matter how hard you try, you can’t seem to get it working again. You’ve got to go back to the Apple home screen and relaunch the app.
There are two ways you can do this. The first way is by holding down the little dial crown found on the top of the watch. This should boot you back to the home screen.
If that doesn’t work, you’ll have to force quit out of the app. Press the side button on your watch and hold it down. Once the sliders appear, you should be able to press down on the dial crown as normal and close out of the app.
Sluggish Watch
Technology can get tired and sluggish just like people can. The troubleshooting step for it? Turn it off and allow it to rest for a little while.
To restart your watch, hold down the side button until the switches pop up. Slide the “power off” switch. After the watch has turned all the way off, press the side button again to turn it back on.
If that doesn’t speed things up, you might have to restart your iPhone too. Devices tend to get sluggish when they need to update so you should check for that as well.
It’s Frozen
The only thing more frustrating than a frozen app is a frozen watch. If you can’t seem to do anything with your Apple watch, you’ll have to shut it down or force restart it.
Try the side button method first. If it won’t bring up the switches so you can shut the watch down, you’ll have to force restart it. Hold down the side button and the dial crown at the same time.
After a few moments, you’ll see the Apple logo pop up and the watch should turn off.
The Battery is Draining
Is your battery dying early on in the day? There are several ways you can conserve power and keep your device working until you go to bed at night.
If your battery is draining right after an update, wait a while. Things should go back to normal after the device has processed everything. You can also try turning the watch off and turning it back on again or repairing the watch to your phone.
DIY Smart Watch Repair
Technology can be wonky sometimes. Your smart watch might stop working out of nowhere. When that happens, it’s a good idea to try to work out the problem yourself instead of paying a ridiculous smart watch repair cost.
You never know, the solution could be as simple as turning the device off and turning it back on again.
